Two times World Cup winner Australian former captain Ricky Ponting is happy with the inclusion of right-handed batter Tim David in the Aussies T20 squad.
As of now Tim David had played just 14 T20 international matches but had succeeded in making his mark. He had scored 558 runs at an average of 46.5 with a strike rate of 158.5.
Tim David made his International T20 debut against Hong Kong in 2020 and scored 58 runs in that match. His Highest International T20 score of unbeaten 92 came against Malaysia in his second match. He had also claimed 5 wickets with his right arm off break bowling.
David, a powerful 6ft 5 middle-order hitter, was born in Singapore but raised in Western Australia and had batted mostly at 3rd position. He is a genuine power hitter, particularly down the ground just West Indies Kiron Pollard.
He came to the limelight when he got a whopping 8.25 corer in IPL 2022 auctions by Mumbai Indians.
Ricky Ponting coaches Tim David at Big Bash League franchise Hobart Hurricane. Pointing said, “Tim David alongside the likes of Glen Maxwell and Matthew Wade forms formidable middle, lower order batting line up”.
Tim David’s ability to hit the ball hard, mixed with good technique makes his first pick for most franchise leagues across the world.
Backing Tim David Ricky Ponting equates him with late teammate Andrew Symonds. Further, he said if I would have been a selector I would pick Tim on my team.
he’s one of those guys who could not just win you one or two games, he could win you a tournament.
